| "We’ve had 5 homes built in the last 20 years. This was by far the most pleasurable experience we have ever had in building a home! There are a lot of good builders out there, but what makes Winfield Homes is the four-person team they have. Each person has a job to do and they made it their primary goal of doing their job to the satisfaction of customers like me. We have never had help from someone like Linda before; someone with her expertise. We have always gone over budget on every home we built, but this time the going over was so minimal and it was of our own choosing. When we got a quote from a supplier, we were told where we were over, and how we can get things back into budget.
And that was important, because it all adds up in the end…big time. My experience with Jim and Steve is that absolutely nothing is left to chance or overlooked.
From the first time when you and I met, and all along in meeting the other 3 people, has been that the main concern was what my needs were and what my goals were, as far as a house and our budget, and helping us every step of the way to reach the goals for that house, and staying within that budget.
The home design process was not just an artist going to the canvas. Rather, it was an artist who saw what my lifestyle was, what my wife’s lifestyle was, who took into account our pets, and every little detail that makes a house a home. And when the design was put on paper, it wasn’t something I had envisioned before, and we just got so excited about it. It really met our needs.
Even little things were brought up. No one made a decision on their own. We were brought out to the house. And suggestions were given. This is what was on paper but now this is what it really looks like, we could do it differently to make it look like that, what would you like to do? I’ve never experienced this before.
We never had help from someone in Linda's capacity. The suggestions and advice on how to keep within budget. We have always gone over budget, and on this home we did go over budget again. In going over, I was told where we were over, and here is how to get it back into budget, but the going over was so minimal.
We wanted very high quality material. But because of the leadership and guidance of Linda, we were able to stay on budget. And that was important because it all adds up in the end.. big time.
My experience with Jim and Steve is that absolutely nothing is left to chance or overlooked. The prime example was when the masons were going to start with the brick and we looked at the front door entrance. What was on paper is one thing, but when you looked at it in reality, it was not going to look right. So they came to the meeting with suggestions: Here is what we think we could do about that, what do you think, what do you want to do?
The other thing was the way it was scheduled. We never had a delay when we were waiting for someone to show up. Each trade came in on the heels of the other.
First, Scott designed a truly gorgeous home for us. Then when we were ready to start, they didn’t hand us some list of selections to be made with deadlines…instead Linda took my wife to every showroom and helped us make every decision, the cabinets, the flooring, the plumbing fixtures, the lighting, colors, fireplaces…right down to the door knobs!”
Jim has walked us through the whole construction process. There are regularly scheduled meetings where we go over the next set of details and work to be done. He always returns my phone calls. And Steve is there every day, making sure Winfield’s construction standards are met."" |

| "Our project is a unique post and beam construction using round timbers for a lodge-like look to emulate a home profiled in Timber Homes Illustrated Magazine. Scott, Jim and Linda have been extremely patient as they have taken their years of experience and adapted traditional methods to the untraditional needs of the project.
Scott found a special concrete foundation that can be "sand blasted" to produce a fantastic look to complement the stone pillars and stone lower elevation. Linda has unearthed a Radiata pine wood that will take a pre-finished stain to match the Douglas Fir timbers and save us some money on doors and trim. Jim has the real challenge, engineering 8,000 + feet of radiant heat, installing two separate Spancrete decks tied to a wood connector, adjusting to a last minute greenhouse (sorry!) and conducting an old-fashioned "barn raising" with 16" diameter rounds and 28' expanses. You get the idea.
We'd give an unequivocal vote of confidence to Winfield Construction. They have been knowledgeable, professional, friendly and very, very patient. We expect a great outcome."" |
